 The photos below show how South Minneapolis front yards have so much potential! Who wants to mow this awkwardly sized lawn? Why not build a beautiful garden in front for attracting butterflies, birds and bees? Here is one of my favorite designs and projects, a yard from my days as the owner of "Margi MacMurdo's Earth Kind Garden Design, Inc". 

It's a house that was once overwhelmed by two gigantic blue spruce trees. The owners wanted them removed and the front designed to enhance the house instead of hiding it. They also wanted a different way to approach the house so we installed a flagstone path on one side for the mailman and a pebbled concrete sidewalk entry from the driveway side; a new driveway was poured as well.

We subcontracted the removal of the trees and hired out the installation of the new sidewalk and driveway, but the rest was handled by my crew. The job still stands beautifully today!
